All of Sushi Shiono Waikoloa’s employees have tested negative for hepatitis A, said a company representative Wednesday.

All of Sushi Shiono Waikoloa’s employees have tested negative for hepatitis A, said a company representative Wednesday.

The store’s 25 employees were ordered to test for the infection after an employee at the store was diagnosed with hepatitis A last month. Employees could not return to work until they received a negative test result.

The order only covered the company’s Waikoloa location and didn’t extend to Sushi Shiono locations in Kailua-Kona and Mauna Lani.

Administrative manager Yuka Kawakami said all of their Waikoloa branch employees received negative results and have returned to work. No new cases of hepatitis A have been linked to the restaurant.

The employee who was diagnosed with hepatitis A is still recovering, said Kawakami. That employee is believed to have contracted the infection on Oahu.
